Week End Trip - From Bangalore To Hasan

I am trying to write this blog from the day one i finished my trip.
Finally i got the time to summarize it now.
Hope this will help for few people.

Initially i have planned to have a trip to Hasan for 3 days, later once i narrow down the plan it reduced to 2 days.

Preparation

One week before , i started googling about what are all the places which we can cover in 2 days.
So Initially i decided to start early morning(around 5AM)  from bangalore.

But because of other personal work we decided to start around 10.30AM(Trust me this is the right time, after a friday night!).

We planned to stay in Hasan, and from there we can move around the place.

As i was going with family and kids, i was making sure that there should not be any hurry or risky place.

Because in-arround haasan, there are lot of places

to visit, but i choose only few areas which my family will be comfortable and enjoy.

Things to carry for this trip

1. For 4 member’s  family, take minimum 5 litters of water(5 litter of water can should be fine)
2. Keep 4 water water bottle(1ltr each)
3. Pair of socks for each one of your family members(To clim the hill)
4. Camera
5. Cap
6. Sun screen lotion(if you are going on hot summer)
7. Home made snacks and some fruits

Trip Plan

(Click on the route for the google map view)

Highlights

Bahubali Temple

There was not much clear sign boards to reach this place. So better ask local people who can give you the right direction.

As soon as we reached we faced parking problem later some how we managed to arrange nearby.

There was a surprise to me, as I did not expect that we have to climb the hill which is very narrow.

There was two hills nearby. But by the time we reached there it was almost 5pm.  So we decided to climb only one.

The moment my mom see those stairs, she decided not to climb as it is very steep.

You have to climb the hill in bare foot ! So do not go during noon time.

I see there was a facility to lift people till top of the hill. But at that time it was overbooked. So my mom decided to stay back (you can book this in advance also).

Note : In hot sun , it will be hard for you to climb in bare foot, because steps are made up of stone and it reflects heat. It is better to wear socks and keep it wet while climbing, this gives you comfortable while climbing. So make sure you have enough water  and pair of socks. There are people who will be selling socks specifically for this(10 - 40Rs  depends on the quality)

After reached top of the hill you will see the big Bahubali statue and you will not feel the tired after seeing him.
It was a very nice feeling after you reached there , you have to feel it.

Don't miss to rom around top of the hill you fill find nice green and sky-blue to take pictures.

Meenakshi Temple

I am not sure people are aware of this temple.
This is recommended by one of my colleague , and you will not see much info about this in web.

Few KMs away from Hasan , you have to go deep inside of an village , visit here early in the morning or during sun set. You will not regret to travel here after seeing it's beauty of the temple.

It will be hard to find the route , there is only one signboard from the mani road, be cautious when you are crossing otherwise you will miss it.

Belur

Belur is one of the historical place. You can find more details in the web , I will not duplicate here. But I can share my experience what I had there.

One of the crowded place in my trip , but we did not feel it once we get into the temple.

This is my second visit here. But I don't see much difference , except they blocked few areas inside the temple for public view.

Again parking is another issue.

I went around 12pm , very hot , not able to walk in bare foot.

If you want to take photos with nice background  you have to wait as you see more people always passing around.

How ever, kids will enjoy the ambients.

Halabedu

Halabedu is same as belur. The architecture is same in both the places.

It is more like a botanical park rather than historical place.

You can take rest in the lawn in the evening.

You can have some local snacks and take rest in the beautiful lawn.

My Kid enjoyed playing in lawn.

The whole trips ends in very calm and happy mood.
Two days went just like that.

I hope this will help few people to plan their weeke end trips.

Happy weeke end trip!

Sagar Hospital - DSI - "Irresponsible people without any commonsense"

I used to goto this hospital as Out Patient for multiple diagnosis, and most of the time it will be just an oral consultation , nothing much. I choose this hospital because it is very near to me.
Recently My mom got bleeding in her nose, suddenly we rushed to this hospital in the evening and consulted Dr. Ramesh ENT specialist. He examined and said nothing to worry as of now, but if it continues better get her admitted and consult a Heart Specialist.
After 1 day, Mom got more bleeding in her nose in the night, whenever she gargles she get hands full of saliva with blood. We rushed to emergency ward(Around 11.45PM ) on this same hospital, and gave all the report to the duty doctor.
Duty doctor called Dr.Ramesh in the phone and explained about her situation, and he asked us to admit her without further delay for observation.
They asked me to goto registration deportment for admission ASAP, and they did not allow anybody to stay with my mom also.
I went to registration department, and that guy started explaining all procedures which i don't want to listen at that time, somehow i want her to admit and start the treatment. But it took nearly 30 mins to finalize all rooms advances, procedures etc. We took Semi private room cost of Rs.3200/- per day(with AC) There were some other charges along with that(documentation, registration, records etc) and they asked to pay Rs.5000/- in advance .
The moment i signed the receipt, i saw one sister carrying my mom in the wheel char next to me(I was shocked, she was in Emergency just few mins ago, suddenly once the registration confirmed they want to shift her to new room)
Then i thought probably after going to room they will start any procedure. So we went to room.
(AC room but no AC in the night), simply admitted her.
After few mins one sister came and asked to give the Urine sample for testing right away, so my mom took the sample and kept in the table where they keep all the equipments.
Thats all end of story!!!, nobody turned up after that, we simply staying in the hospital assuming that somebody will come and do some procedure or test.
But nobody showed up i was waiting for a long time and got tired and went to sleep.

Early morning i went out to get some water, paste etc. While coming back security did not allowed me to go in and asking for visitor pass, I said we got admitted in the hospital late night and nobody gave any such pass, but he refused to listen and keep on asking for the pass, then i ended up calling one of the sister around and explained the situation , later he allowed me to go in.

And this used to happen every time i go out and come, the security is not at all having commonsense on this, simply every time blocking and asking me to give the pass, what a security!!!!

Then doctor came around 11.30 in the morning and said nothing to worry you can discharge in the evening and come and visit in OP where he can see her nose with proper equipment.
And another general physician also came and advised her to stop "EcoSprin" tablet which is causing this bleeding.

I am totally blank, just to say this why they asked us to admit and waited whole night.
The moment i asked for discharge, their behavior completely changed. They said you cannot discharge now if you are going with cashless payment because there are lot of procedure.
Later i decided to pay the money, the moment i said that, they gave one full list and the total bill was 10,000/- change.
OMG, just for observation 10K? , they gave the bill for blood test & urine test which we are not aware of it.

The urine sample was there until morning 12PM, nobody took it, the moment i asked for discharge, the took and and gave it for testing, i never seen anybody can test the urine which was taken 12 hours ago. Totally unreasonable. And doctor also did not see any urine result, then what is the point of taking the test. When i asked about this, they said no problem sir you can use it for your reference(what the heck is this, what i will do with this test result)

And when i look into the blood test, there are multiple tests which are unnecessarily taken.
They have charged Rs.200/- for Blood group test (Common guys can you just ask me what is the blood group, and more over i have mentioned in the admission form also, but what is the use of this test for this treatment ?)

In Another bill they charged 900 for Emergency ward Duty doctor and 450 for the consultation which Dr. Ramesh did over the phone for the Duty doctor( if your Duty doctor asked some details why i have to pay for that consultation also, and what is the use of duty doctor there)

When i explained about all these to one of the Assistant medical directory Dr. Naganand , he just listening what ever i said, and said " I understand your situation sir, we are improving our process, but i can not do anything as of now for this", then i thought i simply wasted my 1 hour time with these people just to explaining their process issues which they are not going to change anyway.
Later i gave up and came out in the evening and consulted multiple doctors outside and now she is normal, thank god i did not stayed with them.

So please be aware of this hospital and take care of your wallet

Here is the recap of all the issues what i faced with this hospital
1. While doing registration they supposed to give visitor pass and some morning kit(brush, soap etc), but they did not gave anything and  I ended up arguing multiple time with security for the same reason again and again — irresponsible

2. In the registration counter, they said if we are going with insurance, there will be person who will come to you tomorrow to get all the necessary document, so keep it ready, but nobody came and at the time of billing they said, i supposed to goto insurance department and submit the details, — communication issue

3. They took the urine for test after 12 hours of sample, and gave the result after i discharge, nobody seen the result and we don't know whether it is a valid test or not — Irresponsible

4. They said observation, but nobody observed anything simply admitted to got more money from us

5. Charges in the emergency ward is unrealistic, ENT specialist did not visited in the night, just duty doctor asked few question, but in the bill they mentioned that Visiting fees for ENT specialist as well as Duty doctor fees(not sure what they have done in the emergency)

6. Nobody updated us what are all the procedure they are doing , but end of discharge they are giving the bill with multiple procedures, blood test which we are not sure they really taken it or not.

Think twice before goto this irresponsible  people.

How to transfer GAS connection in Bangalore (for HP connection)

When i recently moved to new apartment in bangalore, I ended up searching for some information on transferring GAS connection from one location to another. But i did not get any solid one, so i end up getting it from different sources and finally i made it.
Here is the step which i followed to get the transfer

1. First get the agency name or address where you want to transfer
2. Go to your current GAS agency , and inform them that you want to transfer to so and so Agency.
3. They will ask some money (in my case it was Rs.45) and give you the transfer receipt which will give the confirmation for initiation to transfer.
4. Take that transfer receipt and goto the Agency which you want to transfer after 4 working days(You have to wait minimum 3 days after your initiation of transfer)
5. Carry all your original receipt of the GAS connection which you got while applying the connection(without this receipt they will not do the transfer, so keep this document safely), including GAS book(if you have one)
6. Once you submit above documents, the new Agency will ask you to pay some money(Again there is no receipt for it, but simply they will ask, in my case it was Rs.45)
7.Some time they will ask address proof, id proof etc, but in my case they did not ask any.
But as per my knowledge they will accept your rental agreement, or sale agreement as address proof
8. Once they gave the confirmation on the transfer, you may have to wait 10 to 15 days to book any refill.
9. Some time you may have to followup with the agency to get the refill for first time , because you can not use the phone book at first time(In my case it was nearly 20 days)

Hope this helps for few people.

HP Gas connection which i transfered to

near 6th Main Rd, Kuvempu Nagar, Bikasipura, Bangalore, Karnataka 560062

CollectionViewCell - Custom Cell implementation error

When i try to create custom view for collection view i got the following error, even though i connected all controls properly inside the collection viewcell.

2012-12-12 19:14:50.121 sMatcher[13647:11303] porutham cell <NSIndexPath 0x903aab0> 2 indexes [0, 0]

2012-12-12 19:14:50.123 sMatcher[13647:11303] -[UICollectionViewCell lblTitel]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x903ca50

2012-12-12 19:14:50.123 sMatcher[13647:11303] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[UICollectionViewCell lblTitel]: unrecognized

Later i have created seperate class file with xib specifically for cell.

I have designed the cell in xib, but still i get the same error above.

Then with reference to this thread

http://www.raywenderlich.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5043&start=10

I have changed my code in viewDidLoad of the main controlller like below

Instead of this

 [self.collectionView registerClass:[UICollectionViewCell class] forCellWithReuseIdentifier:@"poruthamCellV"];

I have changed to this

[self.collectionView registerNib:[UINib nibWithNibName:@"poruthamCell" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]] forCellWithReuseIdentifier:@"poruthamCellV"];

All started working as i expected, what ever i have designed in xib started appearing in the collection view. So seems like we have to register the cell xib file before we use in collection view which is something different from custom table view cell implementation where we no need to do this.

Bannerghatta Zoo - A week end visit in bangalore

This week we decided to spend some time on sunday in Bannerghatta Zoo, bangalore.

From Basavanagudi(From where i live) it is nearly 18 KM.

The day before, I started googling on facilities available in that place and is there anything which i need to know to avoid last minute hitches.

I got fair amount of information, but still it is not upto-date. So just want to update those gaps in my blog.

We started around 9 AM in the morning (After breakfast), the road was not that great, lot of humps and speed breakers. Some how we managed to reach there within 1 Hr 10 mins.

There is no proper sign board to tell you anything about Zoo. You have to ask people.

There was a parking area specific to this zoo, Even though they mentioned Rs.30/- for four wheeler parking,  nobody asked for it. We did not even seen anybody paying for that, So this time it is free of cost for us.

The place is very hot. We almost drank nearly 10 ltrs of water on that day. So take  water as much as you can.

There are lot of shops and restaurants available, but i would suggest to carry your foods to avoid health problem.

Make sure you are at ticket counter before 11AM to avoid delay and crowds.

SAFARI:

As soon as you land,  take ticket for safari + zoo which is Rs.210/- per person.

They are offering another package called "Special Safari" which is cost of Rs.500/- per person.

All are same except the vehicle,  Special safar is a AC coach with bigger size seats and windows.

Both safaris are same, no difference with respect to site seeing. So its upto you.

The safari was really good and thrilling. It was a 40mins trip (It depends on safari driver, some people took one hour).

BUTTERFLY PARK

Once you done with safari, directly goto butterfly park(Rs.25/- for entrance)

Do not expect much here, this is a very simple park with a small butterfly tent, where you get to see some butterflies which you already know them well. Nothing spl in it.

But good place to take photos with full of flowers and shades.

Lunch & Zoo

After butterfly park, you can have your lunch and then goto park. Otherwise if you have people to carry things, then you can get into park and eat there. It is upto you.

If you are planing to take food inside zoo, you ended up carrying that food bags all the way inside zoo.

There are very nice shadows inside the zoo where you can relax and eat food.

There is a shop inside zoo where you can get samosa, tea , milk etc.

WIth respective to zoo, most of the animals are very old,  I did not impressed much actually, but kids can enjoy it.  Few places are stinky.

Boating

If you really want to do more workout , you go for boating. ;).
Yes, by the time you finish everything and reach this place, you are almost done for the day.

Boating is not that good, very boring, probably kids and couples can enjoy.

So over all it was a nice time with family and friends. You will get nice sleep in the night for sure.

Things you can carry:
1. Water (as much as you can)
2. Cap (if you want new one you can buy over there )
3. Camera (With good zoom options)
4. Food (If you don't want to try outside)
5. kids trolly (if you have kids)
6. Sun glasses and cream for UV protection

Be in casuals, probably T-Shirts and shorts is a good choice.

sMatcher - My First App for iOS

Hi All,

I am very happy to inform you that, my first iOS app is Live in AppStore now.

I have developed a app namely "sMatcher"(Star Matcher) which is basically a tool which will help Bride and Groom to identify the match(Porutham) based on their Birth Star and Rasi.

Normally in south india, this will be the first step in each and every marriage before even considering the profile.

I Had som experience on this during my marriage.
we used check with astrologer almost every week to find out whether the profile is matches or not.
Most of the time he used to tell that birth star is not matching so no need to look into this further.

So i was curious to know the logic like how he is determining that, then ended up googling it.

I have spend nearly 2 months on this research and got the algorithm to calculate it. I have applied all those algorithm into my program and developer this "sMatcher" app.

Every astrologer having their own logic for this, but most of them are common, only few things which will differ depends on their believes.
So in this tool i have implemented the algorithm which is commonly used across the india. You may see difference on the result if you check this with astrologer, please bare with me.

But definitely it will give you a high level result and view on your match(porutham).

Please let me know if you have any suggestions on this.
